COLUMBIA, S.C. – Pure Fishing pro Todd Faircloth outlasted Cliff Pace to earn his third BASS victory this past weekend. The Jasper, Texas native weighed in 62-pounds, 4-ounces of fish during the four-day event on the Mississippi River. The Berkley pro not only claimed his $100,000 winnings, but he also earned himself a birth at the 2013 Bassmaster Classic.
Faircloth was using the new low-profile baitcasting Revo reels spooled with 50-pound SpiderWire Ultracast line. Fishing shallow and punching, Faircloth also gained ground on fellow pro Brent Chapman in the Angler of the Year race, rising from sixth place to second.
“I really wanted this one,” said Faircloth. “This was such a tough event, and it was anyone’s game. My focus now is on the Angler of the Year title. It is one that has eluded me, and now it is within my grasp.”
The Berkley pros will be on the road at the next Elite Series event that is set for June 28- July 1 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
